WHAT DO I COLLECT?
I have been actively collecting since just before joining BSS in about 1985. I started off, and continue to this day, collecting stamps only, the dominant feature of which must be an identifiable living species of bird, preferably one species per stamp. Stamps? This includes basic UM, used and CTO postage stamps with the aim of just one stamp for each species available on stamp. This will undoubtedly upset some members, but I am prepared (and often do) split a set to achieve my objective. Of the approximate 10,000 existing species, depending on criteria requirements about 3,700 (excluding any in surrounds) appear on a stamp, of which I have about 2,500. You will gather from these comments that for me ornithology comes before philately. Why should we all be the same? I am happy to enter discussion on the website or with my e-mail address as listed in "Flight".

I am a former member of BSS. I have been corresponding with David Cox for a number of years and it was he who told me that you have finally gone on line. Congratulations on the fine effort you have made. I hope to view the site on a regular basis. Who knows, I may even join BSS again. I collect bird stamps on cover only, only British Commonwealth, FDC and others. I take this opportunity to mention I have some non British Commonwealth stuff to sell, mainly USA covers, including a fair number of what I call Bird Boat covers i.e. “USS Robin” etc. Perhaps someone out there may be interested! Best wishes for the future.

I would like to trade or purchase postage stamps of the Cranes of the world. I have many duplicates but need several of the newer issues. Contact: Jay Hudson (member #746) email (Hudsonjy@gmail.com)
